Active Directory Character limitations?

Do you know if there is any restrictions on what values can be assigned to the "department" attribute within Active Directory? We wanted to set joe blow's "Section" data to be "Chief Administrator's Office / Bureau de l''administrateur en chef" but we get the following error from Active Directory when we do this. Are there any restricted characters? Note that if we try the same for the Street field, it works.

Maximum length: 64 characters. It's stored as a unicode string in AD, so non-alphanumeric characters should not be an issue.
