Hello All,

I have a rather dumb question. Which Microsoft tools can I load to manage an Active Directory forest from my XP Professional workstation?

Loading the MMC with the AD AdminPack from the Windows 2000 CD is not supported by XP and does not function. I assume that there is a comparable Microsoft solution for XP, but I cannot seem to locate information on it.

Any ideas? Or am I just missing the obvious?

Thanks. Dave

There is a special admin pak for windows xp. You can't use the one from the windows 2000 cd.
The admin pack is still in beta testing and you used to be able to download it from

But now that Microsoft has rearranged their website, it isn't at the same place.

If you run a search through the microsoft website, you should be able to find it. I'll keep looking and let you know if i find the exact location again.

I thought that it should be obvious. I figured that there was some sort of Admin pack for XP, but I sure couldn't locate it.

I will keep trying their web site. If you locate it before me, let me know. Thanks.
