In Crystal Reports 8.0 there was an "Active Data (ADO)" option that allowed me to create reports and then passed it data from my applications, regardless of the server name.

Since I've recently started working with VB.Net I've moved to Crystal Reports 10. However, I can not find the "Active Data" option. Does anyone know where I can find this?

Thanks,

Do you mean OLE DB(ADO)?

You would also be wise to look at the ADO.Net connection if you are working with .Net. Simply create a Strong typed dataset, and you can plug this straight into your crystal report. All that remains to do is to populate the dataset at runtime.

SqueakinSweep,

Please excuse my absense. What I mean is that in the Crystal Reports 10 environment, when I start creating the report, I first need to connect to the database. Once the report is doing what I want it to I then have my application pass it the dataset using ADO.Net.

My problem is that when I first start creating the report in the Crystal Reports 10 environment, I do not have a way to select "Active Data (ADO)" like I used to in CR8. Since I'm having to enter the specific server name, and since this could change in my production area, I need to know a how I can report off of active data like in CR8.

I hope this makes sense...
