I'm hoping someone can help me troubleshoot this problem. I have a form using a text box linking to a URL within another table. I have no problem launching a browser when clicking on the text box but the browser window opens behind the Access window. I've looked into the app.Activate function but not knowing what application might be used (Firefox, Netscpape, IE) I think this could be a problem.

So my question is, what are the various things that would
cause the window to go behind Access? When I use a form from the URL table, the browser opens in front.

I've started to look for setting that would make the form stay active such as modal (which is not turned on), does anyone have other suggestions or ideas as to any settings or reasons Access is staying active?

I'm willing to go with app.Activate if necessary but I don't quite understand how to write the VBA (newbie) especially if I don't know the browser.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sherri726,

Not sure if this is helpful, but I once had the same problem and for me it turned out to be something kind of silly.

I was using the Application.FollowHyperlink method in VBA, but had typed a space into the textbox hyperlink address on the properties window so that the cursor would turn into that 'little hand' for hyperlinks. Thought it was clever, but the files would always open behind Access because the Click Event contained more instructions after following the hyperlink.

Take a look to see what other events you have on the Click, Focus and Mouse Move/Up/Down events for the text box. If Access is being asked to do anything after the Hyperlink is followed, Access will jump back in front.
