I'm trying to get the headset working on my Avaya 6424D+M phone. I don't get any dial tone when I plug it in.

Did you put a Headset button on the phone in question?

If so, is the headset plugged directly into the headset jack under the phone or through an amplifier?

If on an amplifier?, is the amp set to option 3

The button is built in the phone and the headset is plugged into the headset jack.

have you tried the headset on another phone that you know works with that type of headset?

I am thinking it might be the headset adapter cable (the one from the phone to the headset). There are some that do not work on these sets.

Compare with one that works and see what you get.

In the meantime I think that question came up weks ago. I will check this forum for you.

go to your definity switch and type

change station (and your station #)
hit next page until you get to page 3
in the right hand corner you'll see where it says headset
change that to y
at the bottom you'll see your button assignments
on the 4th button line, type headset
hit enter and save trans

The mod 2 headset cord must be an avaya cord or you will not be working we about 45 bucks canadian for these

we were able to recycle our old headset cords by rolling the cable and recrimping a new hedset jack on the end.

i.e. old jack wires - 1 2 3 4
new jack wires 2 1 4 3

works like a charm.

will have to try the recrimping trick - ours are $30 each
