Acrobat's MenuItemExecute

I also posted this question in the Acrobat forum, but perhaps there's more action here?

For some arbitrary number of docs in one or more directories, I would like to pull text from the first page of each doc, pull some of the text out of it, and use it to assign "title" and related OLE properties to each doc.
I have the MS sample and a few other things, which has got me started.
I can't seem to get "MenuItemExecute" to work from VBA in Word. No error, just no visible results.
Anyone has info, links, or sample code?
