Acer extensa 501T no display on lcd when starting!

Laptop will not boot to LCD screen, boots ok to external monitor, after windows loads can switch to either both or just LCD screen,but when restarting, will only boot with external monitor, shuts down if only LCD is the only display device.
Any ideas??
