Hello,

I have a laptop brand Acer Aspire 9305 and since a few days its not booting anymore. When I power on, the power led is burning and the hdd led is blinking for a second. And thats it. Now picture at all. Then I buy a second hand same laptop and change the CPU, memory, Mainboard etc but still the same problem. After reading some things about this problem propperly the BIOS is corrupted. My question: How can I upgrade / reset the bios without picture?

Thanks in advance! Edwin

why did you change all those parts around? I would have just dropped the HDD from the one not working to the one you just bought...

or is the second one also not working?

Second one is also not working/complete. I thougth maybe the PSU is damaged, but thats not it.

that is external on all laptops...

suggests that it is getting power, but that one or more components are not working...

Thanks, but that's not what I have asked. The question was: How can I upgrade / reset the bios without picture?

Please, help me!!!

Thanks, Edwin

Not quite right! in one of the LINKS it tells you how to RESET the BIOS, by taking out the batteries!!!

have you tried to hook the LAPTOP to an external monitor? to see if the problem is just the TFT or inverter?

Updating the BIOS without seeing what you are doing, and ASSUMING that it is only a video related problem and everything else works, you would have to TYPE blindly, everything else would be just the same as if it had video, e.g. hooking up a USB Floppy or using a bootable CD...

True. I did try to disconnect the battery for a few hours, but still nothing happend. I also used an external LCD and removed all unnecessary parts like DVD, HDD, etc. Also the memory modules are changed but without any succes. Its not passing the POST at all.

There should be a way to flash the BIOS from USB or FDD i assume?

Rgds, Edwin

It still doesnt work. I will explane the problem step by step.
I connect my AC and power on the laptop. De powerled goes on and the hdd led is flikkering for one second. Then the system start initialize de dvdrom device which you can hear spinning. After that the laptop stopped and nothing else happend. No screen. Maybe the next step on BIOS routine is initializing the VGA chip?

Rgds, Edwin

VGA gets initialized - or should - before the optical drive (DVD), etc.

If it's dying that soon, it may not just be the BIOS. It could very well be a bad component - overheated perhaps? If the CPU is cooked, the system could act like this, for instance.

Could be the board, could be the monitor, could be a lot of things. A corrupt BIOS is going to rank near the bottom of the list.
