I've got these critical messages on all three of my SMS component servers-
which are also CAP and SMS distribution points :
CBSSMSDEP1 SMS_EXECUTIVE 1080 SMS Site Component Manager detected that the
SMS_SERVER_BOOTSTRAP_CBSSMS service was installed on site system
"\\CBSSMSDEP1" <file://\\CBSSMSDEP1>, but SMS Site Component Manager could
not deinstall the service. The operating system reported error 1072: The
specified service has been marked for deletion.
Possible cause: SMS Site Component Manager does not have sufficient access
rights to administer the site system. Solution: Verify that the Site System
Connection accounts are properly configured to allow SMS to administer the
site system.
SMS Site Component Manager uses the SMS_SERVER_BOOTSTRAP_CBSSMS service to
install SMS server components, and cannot install component SMS_EXECUTIVE
until the existing SMS_SERVER_BOOTSTRAP_CBSSMS service can be deinstalled.
If this problem persists and you cannot fix it, refer to your SMS
documentation or the Microsoft Knowledge Base for further troubleshooting
information.
and also these errors on separate servers:
CBSSMSDEP2 SMS_EXECUTIVE 1082 SMS Site Component Manager could not start the
SMS_SERVER_BOOTSTRAP_CBSSMS service on site system "\\CBSSMSDEP2
<file://\\CBSSMSDEP2>" with the service logging on as account
".\SMSSvc_CAL_0002". The operating system reported error 997: Overlapped I/O
operation is in progress.
Possible cause: SMS Site Component Manager does not have sufficient access
rights to administer the site system. Solution: Verify that the Site System
Connection accounts are properly configured to allow SMS to administer the
site system.
Possible cause: Something other than SMS deleted account ".\SMSSvc_CAL_0002"
or changed its password. Solution: Reset the site using SMS Setup. SMS Site
Component Manager will recreate the account as part of the reset process.
SMS Site Component Manager uses the SMS_SERVER_BOOTSTRAP_CBSSMS service to
install SMS server components, and cannot install component SMS_EXECUTIVE
until the SMS_SERVER_BOOTSTRAP_CBSSMS service can be started. If this
problem persists and you cannot fix it, refer to your SMS documentation or
the Microsoft Knowledge Base for further troubleshooting information.
CBSSMSDEP2 SMS_INBOX_MANAGER_ASSISTANT 1098 SMS Site Component Manager could
not start this component on this site system because the SMS Executive
service is not running. Solution: Review the status messages reported by SMS
Executive on this site system, and fix any problems it is experiencing.
CBSSMSDEP3 SMS_INBOX_MANAGER_ASSISTANT 1080 SMS Site Component Manager
detected that the SMS_SERVER_BOOTSTRAP_CBSSMS service was installed on site
system "<\\CBSSMSDEP3>", but SMS Site Component Manager could not deinstall
the service. The operating system reported error 1072: The specified service
has been marked for deletion. Possible cause: SMS Site Component Manager
does not have sufficient access rights to administer the site system.
Solution: Verify that the Site System Connection accounts are properly
configured to allow SMS to administer the site system. SMS Site Component
Manager uses the SMS_SERVER_BOOTSTRAP_CBSSMS service to install SMS server
components, and cannot install component SMS_INBOX_MANAGER_ASSISTANT until
the existing SMS_SERVER_BOOTSTRAP_CBSSMS service can be deinstalled. If this
problem persists and you cannot fix it, refer to your SMS documentation or
the Microsoft Knowledge Base for further troubleshooting information.
I would be very grateful if anyone could shed some light on what to do in order to reset the accounts. I'm not too sure about doing a site rest, and found this kb article :
It talks about the aclreset.exe tool. Should I use this and reset all the accounts or is this the wrong thing to do?
I realise that the component manager uses the SMSService account, which is the main account and that the SMSSvc_CAL_0002 is a local account on theComponent server. How do you reset these?
Thanks
Jane
