Account Code Entry

Does anybody know if there is an easy way to create say a 1000 account codes in a batch using IP Office 7.0? (IE: 000-999) Or do you have to input each code one by one? Customer is using these codes as file numbers for their clients. Their accounting software requires these codes to generate the proper data.

If I recall a GUID is also assigned to each entry (export and check the config in excel)

1) Create a single code then copy and paste it 1000 times.
2) Select File>Import/Export>Export
3) Select Configuration and save the .csv
4) Open the .csv in Excel and delete all rows above "AccountCode_Info_Start" and all rows below "AccountCode_Info_End".
5) Enter the correct entries in the columns making sure NOT to change the information in the AC_GUID column.
6) Save the .csv file
7) Open the .csv in Notepad and delete all the commas from the very FIRST AND LAST LINES ONLY! Again only the commas on the first line after AccountCode_Info_Start and the last line after AccountCode_Info_End.
8) Save the .csv in Notepad
9) In Manager select File>Import/Export>Import and locate the .csv file then import it.

Entire process shouldn't take you more than 5 minutes.

I think selecting copy then paste 1000 times will take well over 5 mins itself

Even doing an average of one copy/paste per second is over 16 mins without stopping

Andy, open excel

Enter 000
Then enter the cell below 001
Then get the little square on the right bottom and drag it down till you have 999.
Then select them all.

Job done in 20 seconds.

I have had numberious issues with doing anything outside of Manager without first creating the GUID in Manager which is why I don't recommend it. You may certainly do it any way you like but my way will never cause an issue.

Ohh and if you first turn off validation the proces before exporting to Excel should take between 2min 30secs and 2min 50secs in my time test. Remember you don't have to wait for Manager to keep up. The paste buffer will let you go and go and go. In fact in each case I ended up with between 1100-1200 entries because it doesn't stop when you stop hitting CTRL-V.
