I have a user who accidentally added a few of the inner office email (not internet email) addresses to his junk senders list. He can't remember exactly what he did, but all I can see is that when these people send him mail, their mail is immediately placed in the deleted items folder.

The best I could do was set him up with a rule in the rules wizard to automatically copy all messages from these particular users into the inbox.

So.. he is still getting the messages, but there are duplicates coming in. (One in the inbox, one in the deleted items folder)

Any ideas on this?

Thanks!
Ian

Message rules or block sender lists usually have a delete option .

Go to Tools ( or something similar ) in the email client & look for Message Rules or Block Sender .

Didn't really mention which mail application the client is running.

If it is Outlook you can access the Junk Mail senders list through the Rules Wizard or through the Organize function. joegz

I apologize, the client IS Microsoft Outlook98. I have checked through his junk senders list, but none of the names show up! I'm just about ready to uninstall and reinstall outlook on his machine. Nothing would be lost, because all messages are stored on the server in the pst file, however, I wonder if the junk senders list is also stored on the server.

Any last ideas before I wipe out his installation?

Thanks
Ian

Oh - Wait... I figured it out. It wasn't adding the Post Office address name as in 'Bob Smith' instead, it added it as WORKGROUP/(post office name)/(mailbox name)

Thanks anyway!
Ian

How on earth did you solve this ??? I have the same problem, and as the senders email addy doesn't appear in the junk senders list (or 'junk senders.txt' file), I am wondering is this workgroup problem is what is happening to me .. how do I find out ?

DBailey,
In the 'junk senders' list, check in the W's for anything that begins with "WORKGROUP/" - (that is what our workgroup is named here, yours may be different)

Either way, you're going to have to scroll out to where it has your workgroup or domain name, and then the mailbox ID. This is all in the 'junk senders' list, mind you. If users have accidentally added inner-office email addresses to the junk senders list, they WILL be in there.

One way to be CERTAIN where to look is to add an inner-office email to the junk senders list on someone's computer that doesn't already have a junk senders list set up. Once you add them as a junk mailer, when you check the junk senders list on that computer, you will know how your outlook client is reading the inner-office email addresses, and you will know where to look in the junk senders list to delete the actual valid email addresses.

Hope this helps!!

Ian

No, still nothing. Nothing remotely looking like an internal office mail address is there .. and I only have 16 items in there, so they are easy to spot.

I tried you other "add" idea, and it just adds them as the name@company.com email format.

I have no additional rules show in the Rules Wizard. Its a complete mystery, but thanks for trying :-)
