We are running a small Win2K server domain at work with Outlook 2000 on workstations storing their pst files locally.

The boss wants to be able to access his e-mail from 2 different PCs. Would the simplest thing be to set him up with the same account on 2 workstations and put the pst file on the server in a shared folder with the requisite permissions?

I know he then couldn't have the pst file open in the 2 PCs simultaneously.....or is there a way to do this?

Thanks,
Tony.

Your stated plan is the best way to handle the request. joegz

HI.

There are 3rd party solutions like:

I don't know if it works well or not.

If the 2 computers are not going to be used in the same time, you can also try a remote control solution like VNC.

The PST on server solution can work fine I guess, but you must consider that there is a great impact of the PST size on the performance.
A 100mb PST will probably load in about 20-30 seconds on a 100mb network and about 100 seconds on a 10mb link.
PST tends to grow, you know...

I have read in microsoft web page that there is a utlity that ypu can download from microsoft site which will enable two machines to access one pst file. I didn't try this but thought to let yopu know.
