Here's my situation: I have my domain. There is another Domain that I do not manage. No trusts are set up. The other Domain has a physical connection to one of my switches. NAT is setup on the other Domains router to be able to see a server on my network. I can ping the server from the other Domain.

I installed one of our client apps on a workstation in the other Domain. When the app launches, it tries to connect to the server to prompt for a username/password to login to the application. The username and password are setup within the app on the server. They are not based on Active Directory credentials.

When trying to connect, the application fails to connect to the server. I can change the way the app tries to connect from trying to connect by host name to trying to connect by IP address. Neither work.

Does a trust need to be setup or is there some whay around it?

Is there a firewall between your network and the external network?

No firewall, only a router controlled by hte oter dept. the other department is in the same building as us. I have a cable running from their router to one of our switches. Their router is NATed to one of our internal IP addresses so it doesnt go through a firewall.
