Accessing HotSync within W2k?

I am attempting to use my Handspring Visor Edge on my W2k home computer system. When ever I attempt to hotsync I am told 'Error: Invalid configuration. Terminating the Palm Desktop'.

I have gone in under Administrator to see if I could find any thing that needs changing. Even under Administrator I get a dialogue box asking if I wish to login as someone else or Administrator.

I know this is not normal but can't figure out what I have done. Can anyone offer a glimmer of hope?

Have you tried using Microsoft ActiveSync 3.0. We use this software at work with MobilePro 880's and Compaq Ipaq's and I have never had anyone complain of problems.
