like all nw we have the internal ip's to get to the server and the external ip's to get to the server.
my question:
is there a setting that can be changed in the firewall to allow internal machines to loop out and access the server through an external ip?
i know your probly asking why would you?
we are setting up a new web server, with multi functions, and we can test them internally but we want to also test the external functions w/o having to actually be outside.

You could make a DNS record for the server in question with the IP Address of the External Interface. If your server is named "Server" - You could make a record called "ServerOut" with the external address and test that way. You will never actually hit the Internet to come back though as your firewall will recognize the address and NAT it right back in.

For testing applications from the outside, I would suggest that use a machine on the outside (this can be your home machine, etc). Try to set up PPTP or L2TP into your home PC and then term into it. Other options would be NetOp, Web-Based Terminal Services, WinVNC, Citrix.
