I have an Access database with forms saved as web pages. I have an intranet. I saved these forms in Frontpage and use hyperlinks from my intranet to access forms. I use a workgroup file with my database. This worked fine for a while. Today I tried to go to Employee Directory which is an Access web page and could not connect or initialize access. The error says my workgroup file is missing or opened exclusively by someone else. Help!!

I tried replacing with a back-up.

Kim
Kim,

It has been my experience that Jet(*.mdb) files can be a nuisance in a web delivery situation! Several things to consider:

1)Users must have read/write access to the folder where the mdb resides. This is the likely cause of your problem.

2) Users can't use DAO to manipulate the contents of the .mdb safely under IIS. If you use .asp's, using Server.CreateObject. ... server, will corrupt the mdb file in no time! Hope this isn't the nature of your problem.

Check the permissions on the folder where the mdb resides. Delete the .ldb file (you may have to pause the site for this) and hopefully you'll be ok.

Remember to use ADO to manipulate your Jet (*.mdb) data files !

Have fun .
Amiel
amielzz@netscape.net
