Hi,

I had an evil run-in between Access97 and Access2000. I've un-installed Access2000, re-installed Access97 but now Access97 refuses to acknowledge that it should import/export .csv or .txt files. I've already checked that all the Data Access components have been installed, I've done every SR update I can find for Office97. Do I just go out and buy another computer because this one is hosed?!? I'm running Windows 2000 Pro.

When I had both versions installed, 2000 made 97 forget a large number of library locations/functions/dlls -- it was a nightmare.

TIA for any help you are able to give.

Ken Reay,
There is no error message involved. To import, I'm on the Table tab of the database, I click the new button, choose "Import", choose the file, then click o.k. No error message, no wizard.

Same for exporting.

Hey Penelope!

I had a runin with Access 2k and A97 also, for some reason, when Access 2k was unistalled, it took all the Active X controls with it, and would not reinstall them. I beleive it is a .dll file (or 2) that has been corrupted, but will not be over written when a new install is made. I looked and looked for a solution, but couldnt find one. Fortunately, I just wiped the HD and re-installed 97. It worked great then. I realize this probably doesnt help, but at least your not alone...

Great DV! That's just super news. Another notch on the case for getting a new desktop!
