I have a linked file from Excel to my Access database. All worked well and I was able to edit it in Access. I have just installed Office XP service pack 3, and now everytime I try to edit my linked excel file in access, I just get a ringing bell. Urgent help needed please as it's my business database. I have tried relinking the file but still no success.

I haven't experienced what you say, but have you tried deleting and recreating the link?

I have found the answer. Microsoft update for Access 2002 SP3 disables the ability to edit linked files in Access. Their workaround is to open the files in Excel and then it will change the contents of linked file in Access. This totally destroys the purpose of my database. This update to Access cannot be removed! Thanks a bunch Microsoft!
