By default the group 'Everyone' has Full Control access to the root folder of the 'c:' drive on a Windows 2000 server. Is this really necessary? If not, what are the minimum rights required (if any)?

thanks

It is not necessary. We currently only allow the following:

On WS:
Authenticated Users

On Servers:
Domain Admins
Enterprise Admins
Server Operators

Sorry, I'm not sure coz I got no server beside me but if i remember properlly.. I guess you must have basic domainAdmin group username and a password to do this!!!???. Am i right? (c is supposed to be hidden because the sharename is C$ as a default:))

HI.

I think that you should also grant permissions to the "SYSTEM" account.

You should also carefully check the event viewer logs to verify that nothing is bounced against these permissions.
