Hi Guys

I have been asked is it possible to access the Netware file system without the use of the Novell client. ie We want copy a file to a directory on a Netware 5.1 server from a NT4 workstation which has no client.
We have a pure IP environment so I don't think the Microsoft client will work either. Any other suggestions would be most helpfull.

Thanks

David

Hi David,

Here's what you are looking for:

Novell® Native File Access Pack lets Macintosh, Windows, and UNIX workstations access and store files on NetWare® servers without having to install any additional software---such as the Novell ClientTM

Or you could do it an easier way.

Install Client Services for NetWare (comes with NT4 as standard) then you can use the NET USE command to attach to a NetWare server. Format would be:

NET USE T: \\SERVER\VOLUME\DIRECTORY /USER:.USERNAME.ORGUNIT.ORG *

if you are only copying files

load the ftp deamon
or the nfap route

The_Lad FYI: Client Services for Netware are IPX only and will not work in a pure IP enviroment.

Unless you are an MLA/VLA/CLA/?LA client, there is an additional cost for the NFAP idea ak8899 provides(but it is the best idea for long term use).

Using the FTP idea terry712is the one that will work with out buying anything but your time.

If it is just the single file and not somthing you have to do on a regular basis, you can give the Remote Manager a try. The Remote Manager is the thing that loads those HTTPSTK and PORTAL NLM's. You can use a standard web browser pointed to login with admin rights, and go to the volume managment link. Choose your volume, drill down to the desired directory and upload the file. Nothing to install, nothing to configure, it's all there for you already. [smile]
