ALL,

I am running Citrix Metaframe 1.8 on a Windows 2000 server. I have around 60 clients not including traveling sales employees. My problem is that any of my employees can create a custome ICA connection in PN and have access to the server's desktop. I know there is a way to stop access to the desktop for my users and only allow administrators to access... I don't want to set security on all of my directories on the hard drives.. only the shared folders... PLEASE HELP!!!!

I believe the procedure below will work, but I am not in an environment where I can check myself. Maybe you can try it:

Go into the published application manager. Select the "Desktop" application - it should have a different icon than the rest (something like a square with windows in it as opposed to headshots of a man and woman). Right click on it and go to properties, select the "Accounts" tab and then remove everyone that has access and add only administrators.

I think the only way to do this is to only used Published Applications. There is an option within Citrix Connection Configuration | Advanced Connections where you can tick a box that says 'Only Run Published Applications'. That should prevent them from connecting via Custom ICA Connections.
