To comply with the growing security requirements I have been asked to improve a current database with the ability to auto prompt both new users and existing users to change their passwords. The new users would change their passwords at initial logon and the existing users would be required to change their password after six months. I am not a programmer so I was wondering if anyone knew of a way.

I am using Access 2000 running through Windows 4.0. The current database is using workgroups.

Is this a double-post? Thought I answered this....

Oops, my bad.

Was thinking of:
thread707-526516 4.0"?

Access is uh, ok. But it's not a full-featured database. Did a quick search on "Access password policy", nothing or value was returned.

You may need to optimize the O.S. password policy, and whatever other steps you need to take.

You may need to view any workstation with Access as a security liability, and limit installations of Access to the workstations where Access is mandatory.

Or move up to a full-featured database.

I searched on "SQL password policy", and got tons of hits.

Try doing a search on google.com for msaccess security. It will return 9,000+ items. Doing a search on goofle for msaccess password returns 25,000+ items (of course most are concerned with cracking or are in a foreign lang.). Point is, there IS a lot of info out there.

I also checked MS's Technet site. Doing a search for access security resulted in 100 articles.

Plus any good book on Access and/or VBA will cover passwords and security. (I use Mstering Microsoft Access 2000 Development, from Sams).
