Access OLE not showing?

Hi there, hope someone can help me this is a bit of a head scratcher.

I've got a linked OLE field in an access database that is a .bmp image. the image gets updated every month. The crystal report contains information from the database and at the top this bitmap should be shown and the updated version shown when it changes in the database. the problem is that so far the report is showing a scrambled version of the image file and looks nothing like it should. i'm running crystal 8.5 and have updated with all the hot fixes and service pack, has anyone any other suggestions about how this can be fixed?
