If my Win2k Server hardware fails (not hard drive) then I understand it can be a nightmare to restore AD to different hardware when there is only one DC.
If I replace Server, install Win2k or Win2003 Server, setup AD from scratch, create users, and then restore files from original hard drive or backup. My concern is that because of NTFS the ACL and SID's are from original domain.
Do I simply take ownership of all files and folders, being the new Administrator, and reset permissions based on new user(SID) structure.
I only have 30 clients so setting up users again and permission would not really take that long, but as described above, it seems awkward.
What am I missing? Thanks in advance.
