I have an Access 97 database on a site, split into a front end, and a back end. Only 6-7 people use it and usually only 2 or 3 will be using it at the same time.

It has run with no problems for a year and a half, but over the last few months it has been loosing data in one particular table.

I have one table that is a list of people, one that has a list of courses and a link table containing the person ID and the course ID. It's the link table that is loosing data so when reports are done it's not giving a true result.

I have tried repairing and compacting the database but after a few days data goes missing again. Also the data that dissapears has no consistency to it.

Is there anyone who could help me, or am I going to have to re-write it again?

Thanks in advance for all your help.

Hi, you don't have any cascade deletes active on your relationships do you? Or is the data not actually been saved due to a lock?

Hi,

Thanks for your quick response.

No, we don't have any cascade deletes active, and I know the data has saved because its not just new data that they are losing, it looks like it's random data, e.g. one person from one course, 3 from another etc., and this data could be from over a year old.

Is there an Access virus around that would do such a thing?
