I created our club's membership in Access 2000 and then I upgraded my computer to Office 2003. When I open the database it shows the file name and then a colon :(Access 2000 file format). How do I change this database to the Access 2003 file format? Thanks, Larry

Tools | Convert Database | To Access 2002 - 2003 File Format.

Check out the Access fora, there's seven of them - find them through the forum search at the top of the page.

Do you mean on the Database window? Why don't you just hide the database window - Tools, Startup, take the ckeck out of Display database window. Users shouldn't see this anyway. You should open with some menu - again Display form/page in Startup. As the developer, to open to the database window, hold down the shift key and keep it down when you open the database.

Isn't the ':Access 2000 File Format' the default for Access 2003 and unrelated to the fact his db was created in 2000?

Yes, but it can be converted to 2002/2003 through the menu options I pointed at. One can also set this format as default for new dbs through Tools | Options - Advanced tab - Default File Format combo

Hi Larry,
you could examine the possibility of installing both versions of access on your pC
I don't remember the link but it's explained on MS site

Thanks, everyone, for the great information. I tried the convert to 2002-2003 but it told me that it could not be read by someone who still had Office 2000. I kept it the way it is since there is no harm in doing so. Thanks again. Larry
