Hi,

Does anyone know of any scripts, VBA code or software that will process the structure of an MSAccess database and produce the necessary scripts to build the tables in SQLServer AND transfer the data from MS Access to the newly created tables in SQLServer. Preferably without having to spend much cash.

Does anyone know if the current edition of MSSQL Server Desktop edition (as opposed to MSDE) comes with Enterprise Manager and DTS tools?

While in database window, menu Tools -> Database tools -> SQL Server migration wizard
The spelling may be different as I don't use an english version of office.

Hope This Helps, PH.

Thanks for that PHV. I think you refer to the MSAccess Upsizing Wizard. I've done this but it only allows me to upsize to an MSSQLServer I have access to at the time, from my machine. I'm really looking for something that will generate the necessary scripts, which then become portable and can be passed to others to build the database of MSSQL Servers only they have access to.

As far as I'm aware the MSAccess Upsizing Wizard is a direct transfer and does not produce script?

But when a copy of your access base is transferred can't you use the MSSQL tools ?

Problem is I don't have any MSSQL Tools, I only have MSDE installed along with my VStudio.NET Pro Edition - It's definitely a tool to generate the required scripts that I'm looking for

Thanks

Desktop version does have enterprise manager and you can use it to generate the scripts.

Thank you cmmrfrds, I guesss desktop version will have to go onto my shopping list, thankyou for confirmation of that.
