Hi All,

I get "Access Denied" when I access my Win2K workstation from another station. I double checked my networking and permission settings and they all correct. In fact it was working fine before.

Does anyone have an idea why this weird thing happens?

Any help will be very much appreciated. Thanks.

Could be a few things. How is your DNS Server?

LMhost file?

You will be able to see other machines by IP address, but not by Computer Name.

Try mapping the target folder on the other box by IP address....Now this will be a problem if you are using DHCP.

Example:
\\192.168.168.23\Folder Name

that worked for me
good luck

Hi,

Thank you for your time to reply my post.

My DNS Server is working fine. I can surf the internet and check my email.

My LMhost is Enabled.

I tried mapping by IP Address by I got the following error:

"Than mapped network drive could no be created because the following error has occured:
The user has not been granted the requested logon type at this computer."

I don't understand it, my computer's permission is set on Everyone and access is granted.

On the other hand, this is good though because I don't get the annoying WEBPOP of the Messenger Service:) This is probably the reason because they cannot get into my computer.

I have a similar problem, when trying to access the other drives I get: \\slave2\IPC$ and asked for a password but no password I use will work and the drive is set to everyone and the settings on the computer are correct. My next question would be, why is the default IPC$ and not the settings I have assigned?

DAMN! I hate BILL!!!!!!!

You can try removing the IPC$ share from slave2 machine, C$ would be the default if you do not have any other share name.

Yesterday, I found out that one of my machine on the network had spread$ share and it shares system32 folder, I couldn't get rid of the share until I removed it from Administrative Tool/Computer Management of the Control Panel.

I HATE HIM TOO;-)
