Windows 2000 server SP4 with XP Pro SP1 Clients. When the users come in they logon to the domain without problems. However if they attempt to open a mapped drive they recieve an "ACCESS DENIED" message. If you reboot the server the problem goes away and no problems are encountered during the day. (users work up to about 10pm).

Have checked the DNS Server config, DHCP config sent to the clients, checked who the master browser for the network is.
You can browse the network and see all machines and shares on the server but you can't access them. Event log is not giving me any clues

I've run out of ideas of where to look next so any suggestions no matter how left field would be appreciated.

Have you checked if "simple file sharing is enabled" this is something for a home-network and gives a lot of problems when used in a domain!!

Check in your explorer, Tools/Folder Options/View tab scroll down to the last line and uncheck simple file sharing ...

Hope this helps

We have experienced the same problem with Xp on a W2K network. I have reset the users password and that seemed to clear up the problem. It is a work-around, but MS hasn't been able to pinpoint the problem as of yet for us.

A big star for Lisa1964 , We reset all the user passwords and for the first morning in a week no problems.
Will be interested to see if it stays fixed...

The password reset did the trick we havn't had any problems since.
