I am, for some reason, totally stumped by this one. We have just added a new user to our company ranks and I am trying to set up and map her network drives. All of them work - except one. This one particular folder is sitting in the same location as all the others (on our W2K server), and is the location for her daily backups.

As far as I can tell, permissions for her (she is considered a "Domain User" on our system) are set as full permissions - all the permissions boxes are checked. In fact, the permissions boxes for this folder seem to be set more "permissively" than the other folders (the ones that she can access.)

Any ideas? I'm stuck ... what could be causing these circumstances?

There are two sets of permissions when it involves a share: NTFS permissions and Share permissions.

Verify the folder is shared and record the share name (doesn't have to match the actual folder name). On the shareing tab, click permissions. Make sure the user is listed or is a member of a group listed in the share permissions. Make sure the user isn't a member of any group denied share permissons.

Click on the Security tab and check the NTFS permissions. Make sure the user is listed or is a member of a group listed with the NTFS permissions you desire. Make sure the user isn't a member of any group denied any permissions you with to allow.

Try sharing by the following methods:

\\Server\Sharename ;netbios name for server
\\xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx\Sharename ;IP address to server
\\Server.domain.com\Sharename ;FQDN name for server
