I have an old time clock management program that ran under DOS that I recovered from a crashed machine and put on a new XP Pro machine.

The problem that I am having is that it will not run because of "access is denied". I have removed all the DOS attributes, removed simple file sharing property on the PC, given myself (administrator) full control on the NTFS security permissions, set compatibility to win95, turned off all firewalls, ....

The funny thing is, in the process of recovering the files from the crashed drive, I first copied it to a Windows 2003 standard edition server from which it runs ok, so I know the application is still good to go. Also, I can run the application on the new PC if I boot up in SAFE mode, just not from a normal boot mode.

I know the answer is simple, but I am not seeing it at this time. Oh yeah, I also took ownership of the folder and all files in it also. I’ve posted this on other forums but I am not getting any response, so…….

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks

Thanks for the reply. However, I have the privileges to change the systemtime on this machine. I need to figure out why I am unable to run the old DOS application that XP won't allow.

Thanks

Guys

Thank you for your suggestions!

I have stumbled across the answer which is uninstalling AVG70. The only reason I uninstalled AVG is because AVG thought that the executable file was a virus. I had been up to now disabling AVG thinking that would take care of that issue.
