I get this error from Veritas Backup Exec 9.1 on SBS Server when using the backup option for Exchange:

Access denied to database Mailbox Store (SERVER2K3).
WARNING: "\\SERVER2K3\Microsoft Information Store\First Storage Group\Mailbox Store (SERVER2K3)" is a corrupt file.
This file cannot verify.
Database or database element is corrupt
Log Files

I have ran eseutil and it thinks everything is fine. I have done an offline backup and copied the information store to a new drive and mounted them and I still get this error.

Veritas is using a user I setup just for this purpose and it use to work. It seems that after I loaded the latest service pack for Exchange 2003 that I'm getting this error. any ideas?

I have this problem at two locations. At the first location it fails. I have not tried it at the second one. I'll try that now and post back.

Ok, sorry for the delay. When I run the windows backup I get this.

The expected checksum was 7326707862157755 (0x001a079a1b7f39bb) and the actual checksum was 7326710009641403 (0x001a079a9b7f39bb). The read operation will fail with error -1018 (0xfffffc06). If this condition persists then please restore the database from a previous backup. This problem is likely due to faulty hardware. Please contact your hardware vendor for further assistance diagnosing the problem.

This is a really delayed posting but I found we had to run eseutil and isinteg on the information store. We then moved the information store to another hard drive, defragged the original drive and put the store back. Now it's working fine.
