Hello, I am migrating from an NT to AD domain. When I migrate a server, IIS no longer works but gives an "access denied" message. What must I do to correct the permissions and make it work again without ripping it out and starting again?

could yopu provide more info on what exactly isn't working?

The and the website are running, however if you connect to the site from anywhere (incl local machine) the page displayed is the standard access denied. The site is set for anon access with no other restrictions. If I uninstall and reinstall IIs I can then access the site again. This would be an apropriate solution on some of my servers, however others have "applications" running and reinstallation is a long winded affair.

Hi,

Check the account that IIS is using for anonymous access. Is it a domain account? Is IIS controlling the password?

If you're running ASP scripts, make sure your Website or Virtual Directory has it's Application Protection set to low.

Also in the directory that the web site is in make sure that the NTFS rights have allow for IUser_SERVERNAME the proper access to the directory and files

more likely in the local users group you need to add the domain users group from the new domain.

Thanks for the sugestions- as it 'appens I migrated a further four boxes and all of them continued to work after migration-so I'll conclude that I have suffered from the poltergeist features built into windows.
