Hi

I need to put up an Access database on a web page so that people from other regions can enter to update on the database.

I understand that we can use ASP to set up a web page. I am new to this topic. Does anyone know where can I install or find the ASP programme? I have about 27 MB of free space on my C: drive

I would appreciate the help. Thanks in advance.

HI

Are you using IIS?

If so then you need to install frontpage extensions then you are ready for ASP

Cheers

Hi

Thanks for your help. Actually I tried to install IIS a few moments ago from
However the whole program takes 30 something Megabytes. I only have 20.7 MB of free space on my computer.

I noticed that there are many different parts making up the IIS program. Any idea if I can just download those which I need for setting up the web page and attaching access program? Or is there a smaller program than IIS which will meet the requirements. I am unable to free space on my C: drive.

IIS is the web server that will allow you to serve out web documents. This is a necessity. There are components you will not need with IIS, such as FTP (file transfer protocol), SMTP (Simple Mail Transfer Protocol), and NNTP (Network News Protocol). That may slim down the size of the package some.
If you select just:
Common Files 1.0Mb
Frontpage Extensions 4.1Mb
IIS Snap In 1.3Mb
1.9Mb
You should be ok, this requires 11.4Mb on my win2k server box.

Hi,

With so little space on your hard drive, why not host your database and ASP pages somewhere else (e.g. free Brinkster account)?

will host an Access database and all of your ASP pages. You can then allow access to your database, or create ASP pages that allow inserts/updates/deletes to that database. You see, Brinkster has IIS so you don't have to worry about installing the server and everything. It depends on your situation, but running your own server and database might be a little over your head (I don't know!)

Just thought I'd throw it out! :)
