Hi,

I have created a form in my MS access database and now every time I touch it MS Access crashes. The form contains a lot of labels, radio buttons, text boxes and some code. I cannot open it in any view, copy it, export it, analyse it, anything at all without it crashing.

Does anyone have any thoughts about how I get a look at this form?

Thanks
Chris

If it is the forms you are after, can you import the objects from another empty database?

1. Try Compact and repair the database.
2. Try to import it into a new empty database container.
3. Do you have a backup?

Hi,

Thanks for your responses on this. I have come to the conclusion that controls on forms use lots of system resources and can cause access to crash.

I started out with a relatively small form, with only a few controls on it and some code. I was wooking on the form on my laptop when it started to crash and refused to open up the form without crashing.

I moved to my desktop, which is more powerful, and was able to open it up and continue working. I was of the opinion here that my laptop was the problem as I haven't had it for long and this was the first time I was trying to build anything on it.

As I continued to build the form by adding more controls I received an error message to say that the pc was running out of system resources and that the undo function would no longer be available.

Eventually, after many more controls being added the form wouldn't open on that pc either. Everytime I touched it access crashed and there was no way I could even get a look at it.

I have since recreated the form with less controls and haven't come across the same problem again. To give you an idea of when I hit the problem, the original form would have had about 300-400 controls, mostly labels and radio buttons. I've managed to consolidate now with less than 100 and it's all working fine.

The form is used for marking and contains lots of categories and criteria.

Thanks
Chris
