Hi everyone,

I really hope someone can help me,

I have an MS Access 2000 database and a MySQL database on a remote server. I want to link the tables to the access database so that i can use it as a front end and take some of the server load away.

I can connect to the remote database when I test the DSN and when I try to link a table using access it comes up with the list of remote tables to select. But when I click on one of the tables and click ok I get the following error:

ODBC--call failed.

[mysql][odbc 3.51 driver][mysql-3.22.32]You have an error in our SQL syntax near 'ctrlogin' at line 1 (1064)

please can anyone help...

Thanks very much

Nick.

Are you using Get External Data, Import Linked Table in the Access database window,

Or are you opening an ADO recordset using the OBDC link in the Active connection property ?

Does the text 'ctrLogin' appear in the target table ?

Does this happen on every table our just one/some ?

Thanks very much for your quick reply

I am using the 'get external data' wizzard because i want to be able to access the table from queries.

the ctrLogin table does exist in the remote database and it happens to every table i try to link to.

Thanks again

Have you tried to Get External Data - IMPORT

That just to see if you can get the table into Access.

You are getting through the security so that you see the tables.
However, do you have the appropriate permissions to read the data ?

Can you create Pass Through queries to see them - or does that block you as well ?
