Hi all,
To all the UK users, hope the World Cup/Jubilee long weekend has not left your head too sore!
I have an Access 2000 database that manages a process. A seperate database (Lotus Approach 3 & 97 versions) is used as a data gathering form for data that relates to the 2K database. The reason for this is that those of us who are office based are running Win & Office 2K whereas our field and home based staff are running Win98 and Office 97. Please sont ask why, seems a crazy idea to me as well!
I would like to redesign the Approach database in Access for the field absed staff to use.
My Q's are:
1. Can I design a simple form based Access 2K database and use the 'Convert to prior version' to allow our field based staff to use it with their Access97?
2. Can I link the tables in to my Access 2K database?
3. Are there any design issues you think I should consider by using teh two different Access versions?
Note: to reiterate, the Access97 version is purely a simple form based input database. No fancy reports, queries, etc...
It seems to me the answers are Yes, Yes and 'not if you are not making a fancy Access 97 version' but it would be nice to know from those that know and not one that guess's!
Thanks for all your help
Tim
