Hi All,
Is there some bug in A2002 where it won't allow you to convert a previous version?
What happened is that I opened Access 2002, (with no database, just blank, but logged on as Admin) and selected Tools--Database Utilities--Convert Database. Then I selected an Access 97 database (which was created by Admin and had all objects, including db, owned by admin, with all permissions enabled and all XP security set to Full Control for Everyone)
Next I got an error message saying I didn't have the permissions to convert/enable this db. Yet if I double-cliced on the '97 .mdb file, it opened with the dialog giving choice of Convert or Open readonly. When I selected Convert, it converted fine, no 'permissions' error.
If I go back and delete all these .mdbs, and re-copy the '97 .mdb file to the xp box, and try converting from the Access 2002 environment, I still get the error, but I can go and double-click and it converts fine.
What's up with that? Thanks,
