Access 2000 and Pass through query with Sql Server 7

I have created a pass through query in order to grab data from two SQL Server 7 tables. The query begins to run however crashes Access after a minute of retrieval. I have made the appropriate changes to the timeout properties, both login timeout and query timeout as well as connection timeout in the regedit. Does Access have a record limit? At the most I would be retrieving 5000 records.
