A colleague has developed a solution for one of our users which involves the following:
1. An existing MS Access application;
2. A linked table within the Access database, using ODBC;
3. The link is to an HPe3000 IMAGE database, using Minisoft's ODBC driver.
To add another level of complexity, the user is operating within a Citrix server environment.
The modification to the system that is causing the problem is a simple UPDATE SQL. It selects all records with a particular flag value, and switches them all to another value. Using the system as described, the query either does not work at all, hanging the application, or does work (under some circumstances), still hanging the application.
Now, if he imports the linked table to a native Access table, the query works perfectly - the records are updated and the query terminates in an orderly fashion.
I apologise if I've chosen the wrong forum for this question - gentle re-direction would be much appreciated!
Thanks to all,
