Hi all,

My question is this

How do you configure Exchange 2k3 to ACCEPT emails to *anyone*@domain.com and deliver them to ONE mailbox?

I have been asked to add two domains to a server but the client only wants one or two mailboxes for delivery of those emails.

Can it be done?

Thanks for any advise or help.

Vince

You forward all NDR's to that account, but do NOT generate NDR's or automatic replies to the internet.

If 'something' 'somewhere' gives 'some' error, expect random guesses or no replies at all.

How do I do that?

Is it a new recipient policy?

So I can only forward the messages as attachments to a defined recipient in the form of an NDR?

No, you get the 'real' messages.

On the Exchange 2003 server, go to the System Manager. You drull down to the server, protocols, SMTP - Rigth-click Default SMTP Virtual Server - properties.
Here you go to the Messages Tab and you can fill in the account to received the messages in the fields "Send Copy of.." and/or "Forward all..".
This account will get the intact messages.

Mark,

My default SMTP server option as listed under "Messages"

Limit message size
Limit session size
Limit number of messages per connection
Limit number of recipients per message

Send copy of Non-Delivery Report to:
Badmail Dir
Queue Dir
Forward all mail with unresolved recipients to host:

At the moment I am sending a copy of NDR to an email address and that email also recieves the original email attached to the ndr.

The hosts part is for possible forwarding to another server for attempted delivery.

I cant see where I can enter the information to allow me to forward the email to an smpt address!

Sorry to be a pain.

Vince

no pain ;-)

You fill in an ACCOUNT in the bottom one, the "Forward all mail with unresolved recipients to host"

You don't really need the "Send copy of Non-Delivery Report to" entry

Vince if i get you right your exchange is hosting multiple email domains and you would like all the emails destined for the two of them end up in a single mailbox...if this is true then you may have a few options..
a commercial antispam software will be able to do this for you..or you could try this

if money is problem then what you can do is create two mailboxes...lets say mailbox one and mailbox two...
on mailbox one add all the email addresses that are assocciated with that domain(lets say ABC.COM)...on mailbox two add all the email addresses assocciated with second domain(lets say BBC.COM)...
by adding email addresses i mean u can add info@abc.com
or support@abc.com to mailbox one...with tis solution you wont catch misspelled emails...

Marc,

When I put an email address in there it gives an error.

"The server name is invalid"

Sorry to be a pain but if it is a possibility then I would like to explore it.

Else I will follow the recommended mailbox with all address added.

Thanks
