Hi
Just bought a computer from ebay and it came with redhat 7.2 installed,I think its set up as server...not worklstation. Now a Few queries.
1.Redhat 7.2 wont let me login at the main screen(blue with redhat logo intop left)Its a used computer and obviously the guy hasnt disabled password checking:(
Im completely new to Linux and havent got a clue how to bypass or get in,annoying as heck considering how long ive waited for this to arrive:(
2.How Do I get it to recognize my intelli 3.0 mouse.
3.How do I install a new NIC,any special methods?(I dont mean plugging into PCI slot, more with the REdhat config side:)

Hopefully if I can get all this sorted I can finally set it up as a router/firewall...seems like thats a long way away tho:(

1. Reboot box. I'm assuming you're using GRUB. At the boot splash screen, type control-e, highlight the second line (which should have /boot/vmlinuz-x) and type control-e, go to the end of the line and type 'single' and hit enter. Now hit control-b to boot. you should go straight to a prompt as root. Now type 'passwd' and reset the root password.
If using LILO, I believe the key stroke at the splash screen is control-x. Just type 'linux single' at the LILO: prompt for the same result.

2. For the mouse, at the console (control-alt-F1 to get there from the login screen, use 'mouseconfig' or 'setup' as root.

3. For setting up the NIC use 'linuxconf' as root.
