Ok, "back a few", I wrote a some apps in (I think) Delphi 6, but have been requested (begged) to develop a new app for a new client because of my "simplistic user friendly attitude". The client is even going to purchase my Delphi package.
As you can guess, after purchasing "Inside Delphi 2006" and browsing the book, it left me in a state of catch-up, I haven't been programming lately.
Thus, a quick couple of first reflection questions:
Does the professional package come with Interbase and is it (my assumption) basically the replacement for Paradox?
..and does it set-up and program form inside the suite. I've already caught a few reactions in the forums indicating it is fairly bullet proof. That is some great news.
What is the newest and most reasonable way to handle reports? More in depth... At least one of the print-outs could resemble a TForm complete with check boxed objects followed by some jpeg's or bitmaps. After a time rushed hard look at the book, (there is a lot there) I'm not sure if TForms are now printed directly using Windows presets or if they have to be developed into a printable format first, or if printing TForms is a reasonable possibility. Of course reports are a different matter.. or ... are they? Could someone clarify these issues for me? What are most programmers doing for a report writer?
I plan to make the purchase in a couple of weeks and need to feel sure I'm making the correct committment in package choices.
