I had developed a visual basic application using access database. My application is running smoothly. But the database is not secure as i had not given any password for the database. So, anybody can alter the content of the database by entering through MS Access. So, Please give me any suggestion about how to protect the database and also the connection string needed to access the database from the visual basic application.
Thanks.

hallabad,

I suggest you search through this forum for posts on Access Security. There are lots of great posts. As far as the VB connection string, it all depends on what kind of connection object you are using.

if you're just looking to secure the access database itself, go to and download the security faq, or whitepaper, as it's usually called. It'll take a couple of readings, but this will definitively answer any questions about the process of securing a database.

Please know, though, that it's possible to crack Access security, but you'd have to go pretty far out of your way to do it.
