Abort Zoom

When I try and create a pdf of an A1 drawing from a plot utliliy we use, I get an error meesage "Abort Zoom - Exceeded maximum zoom" with an "OK" button, when cancelled, the pdf file is created, although all it contains is a strip along the top of the file with the bottom 1/8th or so of the drawing on it.
Can anyone help me solve this problem?

I have set everything I think I should to A1... I assume I'm missing something
