In November I realized that altho I was able to receive email in Outlook or Netscape, I could not send any emails. I checked my account several times, even deleted and recreated it, no luck. I contacted my ISP, all if fine at their end (I can send email from their website, so the problem is in my PC). I am at wit's end here. I'm running Win 98, connecting thru cable modem. If anyone has an idea of what might be causing this, I'd appreciate your help.

Thanks.

If you can send in another PC, i think your pc has no protocol or the protocol file is currupted to send emails... like, SMTP or MAPI...
sorry. i am not so sure.

just, let me mark this in my thread to find it easily.

If you can receive but can't send then I would have to guess that you are using the wrong outgoing mail server for the ISP that is providing your connection as opposed to the ISP where your mail is coming from.

In other words if the mail you are receiving is coming from an ISP that is not providing your cable connection you can't relay your outgoing messages through the ISP outgoing server without being directly connected to their network.

If these are two different ISPs then you should configure your outgoing mail server to be that of the cable connection provider. joegz

I am having the same problem with Outlook. I thought I had it solved because I was sending for about 3 weeks with no problems but last night it stopped working again - Is it possible that a microsoft update has mucked it up somehow? Did anyone figure out an answer for this?
