Hey guys, I've got a new custom build computer that won't display 640x480 properly. I get a ghosted second screen at the top of my display.
The problem was found when trying to play Medal of Honor AA. I don't know if the game was installed properly in the beginning or not, but the screen resolution option was not available.
When I started trying to fix this I found other problems which I have been killing off one by one, here's a list:
1)Sound Blaster Live 5.1 drivers & programs not installed
2)Sound Blaster drivers etc. crash the computer when loaded
3)AGP slot reports empty in System Analyzer

So I tried ATI support, they said motherboard setup problem. So I went through the connections and setup as per the manual ( including bios settings) no change.
Next step latest drivers. Installed and flashed new firmware for K7A-133R (from A-Bit), Via chipset (from VIA), and HPT732 ( from Highpoint).
no change
Pulled sound blaster
no change
New Sound blaster drivers
sound blaster not detected (only with new drivers)
Fresh install of everthing (format etc.)
The computer works better, I got the new sound blaster drivers in. The AGP slot is full, But the ghosting is still there when I switch to 640x480.

System:
KR7A-133-R motherboard (raid not used)
Athlon xp1800 133 cpu
256m DDram 266mhz
Maxtor 7200 40gb hard drive
ATI radeon 7000 64m AGP video card
Sound blaster Live 5.1 sound
Syncmaster 955df 19" monitor

The problem is not an issue right now as the game plays great now that I can run at higher res........But the problem is still there!!

Any thoughts?

Have you tried reducing the Screen refresh rate.

Another thing you would want to do is make sure you have the most current version of Direct X installed.

If it is installed, try running it's Direct Draw/Direct3D tests to see if those pass. Enkrypted
A+
