Anyone have experience with using an Aastra 9116LP Nortel styled phone on standard analog lines on an Options/CS1000 platform? Power requirements are sketchy, the phone docs say its Line Powered but PBX line powered, but still includes an 8v DC adapter....what's the difference here? I thought analog PBX line power is equal to say the power requirements on a standard DMS100/sl-100 POTS line....can someone demystify that here for me? I'd like to set the phone up on an analog SL-100 POTS line WITHOUT a power adapter. I can't figure out what the 8v DC adapter is for....?

The manual seems to answer that.

Important: Operation of the 9116LP in line power mode should be restricted to use behind a PBX line card with no other extensions running off the same line. Should more than one phone be in use on the same line card, it is recommended that the 9116LP be set up using D/C power. The DC adapter must be connected to the 9116LP if an extension phone is connected to the same telephone line. This will ensure full functionality for the 9116LP (e.g. extension in use)
