A quick question about MOM (ms operation manager)

Some of you guys probably are working in an environment with a lot of windows servers. I guess that MOM is used to monitor the status of those servers in some of the places.

My question is: Is it possible to use MOM to monitor the status of specific processes or services? Also non-ms software?
