I have a switch out in the field that just started double ringing on CO calls. The outside calls sound just like inside calls. Any idea's on what might have caused this and how to fix it? I though about profiles but this version does not have that setting.

Thanks in advance,

I've had that glitch before. A reboot cured it then.

Did you check that the customer did not switch carriers?

Some carriers resell Telco Centrex services which send a double ring.

I had that problem twice and I was troubleshooting the phone system for about two hours the first time. Phone company I looked at all the programming and everything was programmed correctly. Finally I decided to hook up a testset directly to the incoming line from the phone company. And use a another line to call the line I was hooked up on. And found out it was the phone company sending a double ring. I called the phone company and told them about this problem and they said that nothing had changed that it must be my customers equipment. We argued for about two hours. It turned out to be the phone company both times. Test the outside lines first. I Hope this helps

I did some more testing at my office and found out that what ever ring cycle that the phone system receives it emulates. So it looks like the carrier did some changing and denying it all the way.

The first time that I ran into this situation was about a year ago, six months after I had initially installed a location. I did not know there were 2 other techs previous to me working on it. After going nuts & finally speaking with a Nortel engineer, I was assured that the Norstar will only pass through what it receives.

I finally found out that the boss had switched services to SNIPS. I called them & found out the scoop.

Customer switched back to local telco because they did not want to look at their displays & didn't want to have me install bells on each floor.

I have run into this problem many times, and every time Telco was the reason. And they denied it every time. It seems to happen alot on Centrex lines.
